Man in critical conditon after police shooting
PORT RICHMOND - September 11, 2011
It happened around 1:00 a.m. on the 3200 block of Mercer Street.
Authorities tell Action News that officers were on location investigating an attempted robbery.
While on location, an unidentified man pulled up, got out of his vehicle and began screaming and pointing a gun.
Officers ordered the man to drop his gun but he refused and officers were forced to used gunfire.
The suspect suffered gunshot wounds to the stomach and to the knee. He was taken to Hahnemann Hospital where his is listed in critical condition.
No word on why the suspect was armed.
The incident remains under investigation.
