The blaze broke out just before 2:00 a.m. Sunday in the 2200 block of South Croskey Street.
Firefighters say flames could be seen coming from a second floor bedroom.
After crews extinguished the flames, they discovered the body of a 55-year-old woman.
Officials say a man jumped out of a second story window and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The fire marshal is investigating.
