AC casino workers still without contract

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - September 19, 2011

The labor deals between nine of the 11 casinos and Local 54 of the Unite-HERE union expired Thursday, but both sides agreed to keep operating under the terms of the old deal.

The casinos are seeking wage cuts of about $3 an hour for a work force that averages $12 per hour. They also want workers to start paying some costs for their health and pension benefits.

The union says its pickets, which so far have targeted only Resorts Casino Hotel, could be expanded to other casinos.
