Car hits house, bursts into flames

BRIDESBURG - September 26, 2011

The car went out of control about 3:30 on Monday morning on the 4600 block of Thompson Street in the Bridesburg section of the city.

The vehicle clipped a minivan then barreled into the side of the house.

Right after the collision, the vehicle burst into flames.

The driver managed to fight his way out of the car.

He is in stable condition in the hospital with smoke inhalation and other injuries.

Three people were in the house at the time of the accident.

They were not injured.

Personnel from the Philadelphia Department of Licenses and Inspections will examine the home later this morning, to determine if it suffered structural damage.
