One dead, two injured in Olney robbery

OLNEY - October 1, 2011

It happened at approximately 3:48 a.m. outside an apartment building on the 5000 block of North 5th Street.

Police tell Action News that three males were entering the building when they were approached by two armed men, demanding money and jewelry.

During the robbery attempt, at least one of the suspects opened fire striking each of the victims before fleeing the scene.

All three victims were taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center. One of the victims, a 43-year-old man, was shot once in the chest and was pronounced dead at the hospital. A 40-year-old man was shot three times in the abdomen and is listed in critical but stable condition. The third victim, a 41-year-old man, sustained a gunshot wound to a finger on his right hand and is listed in fair condition.

Two rings were found near the scene, but police are unsure if the suspects made off with anything else.

The incident remains under investigation.
