Detectives say just after midnight on Friday in the South Jersey city, someone opened fire on a man who was standing near the intersection of Collings and Congress roads.
The victim, identified as 30-year-old Vernon Hicks, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have not indicated if they have a motive or suspects in mind, although they did call in the police gang task force.
So far, there have not been any arrests.
