NJ man faces prison for death of autistic child

Corey C. Fitzgerald must serve 85 percent of his term before
becoming eligible for parole under the sentence imposed Friday. He
also received a concurrent four-year term for an unrelated
aggravated assault of his ex-girlfriend in June 2010.
Fitzgerald pleaded guilty in September to aggravated
manslaughter in the death of 3-year-old Teyshawn Young. Fitzgerald
was babysitting Teyshawn when he pushed him, causing the child to
strike his head.
Fitzgerald then hid the child's injuries from his mother over
the next few days. The boy later died at a hospital, and an autopsy
found he died of a perforated bowel caused by blunt abdominal
trauma.
