Police say at around 12:15 p.m. Sunday a Chevrolet SUV was making a left turn from Allegheny Avenue onto Fox Street when the back door opened.
At that time, a 1-year-old child fell out of the SUV and onto the street.
The 1-year-old was then struck by a 2009 Pontiac G6.
The male driver of the SUV got out of the vehicle, picked up the 1-year-old, and took the child to Temple University Hospital.
The child was then transported to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in critical condition.
The driver of the Pontiac did stop at the scene.
Police say it is up to the district attorney's office to determine if charges will be filed.
