Husband and wife killed in NJ limo crash

BORDENTOWN, N.J. - October 11, 2011

The crash happened around 4:45 a.m. on Route 1:30 between Ward Avenue and Highbridge Road.

The husband and wife, only identified so far as a couple from Hightstown, were picked up by the limo earlier in the morning.

They packed their bags and headed for an airport.

During the drive, police say the limo slammed into a flatbed tractor trailer - carrying bulldozers - that was attempting to make a turn.

The wife died at the scene. The husband was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Hamilton in critical condition and later transported to Capital Health Regional Medical center in Trenton for emergency surgery where he later died.

The limo driver was also taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital with serious injuries.

The tractor trailer driver did not suffer any major injuries.

The tractor trailer driver was making a delivery of equipment to a construction site right where the accident occurred.

An investigation into this crash continues.
