Trooper: Slaying defendant surprised at ex's death

EASTON, Pa. - October 12, 2011

Trooper Steven Furlong testified Wednesday that Barry Soldridge Jr. hung his head and became quiet when he was told he was facing two counts of homicide in the deaths of Candice Shuey and Derek Henry.

Soldridge's attorney has said his client "snapped" in a moment of rage and opened fire after seeing the couple at the home of a mutual friend.

Prosecutors say Soldridge planned the killings because he was jealous of his ex's new relationship.

A Northampton County jury could begin deliberations Wednesday.
