NJ Turnpike reopens after crash in Carneys Point

CARNEYS POINT, N.J. - October 12, 2011

The shutdown forced traffic headed for the Delaware Memorial Bridge onto Interstate 295 for more than four hours Wednesday morning.

State Police Sgt. Francis Babinchock says a tractor-trailer rear-ended a van towing canoes on the toll road in Carneys Point around 2:30 a.m.

Babinchock says two troopers performed CPR on the van's driver, Rachel Meneses of Glastonbury, Ct. The 24-year-old was flown to a hospital and is in stable condition.

The truck driver was not injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
