Driver dies after driving into tree on I-495

CLAYMONT, Del. - October 13, 2011

Police say it was shortly before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday when Emil J. Price, 59, of Wilmington lost control of his 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser while traveling south on I-495 near the Naamans Road Interchange.

The vehicle left the right side of the roadway and down an embankment, crashing into a large tree.

Arriving medics found Price to be in cardiac arrest and transported him to Christiana Hospital where he later died.

Investigators say Price was the sole occupant of the PT Cruiser and was properly restrained. They have also ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash.
