The Herald newspaper of Sharon reports Thursday that officials with the Shenango Township Municipal Authority Board learned last month they've conducted one aspect of their business incorrectly. Members of the board didn't have term limits and generally served until they died or were otherwise became physically unable ever since the board was created in the early 1970s.
The issue came to a head when a board member who was being replaced in August began to question the legality of the move.
An attorney who advises the board determined the law requires its members to have five-year terms. Those limits have since been imposed.
