New way to view art

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - October 14, 2011

Officials in Georgia are trying to decide whether to include as much as $250,000 for public art at a new county jail.

Athens-Clarke County Commissioner Mike Hamby is opposed to art in the jail budget.

But Mayor Nancy Denson likes the idea.

She says the art is for the deputies and employees, not those convicted of crimes.

The commission is scheduled to vote on plans for the new jail next month.
