Nails found in meat left at Pa. dog park

LANCASTER, Pa. - October 18, 2011

Lt. Todd Umstead says the tainted meat was found at about 8:50 a.m. Monday by a young girl and her father who brought their dog to the Buchanan Park dog park.

He tells the (Lancaster) Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era that the two large chunks of meat were lying in the grass just inside the fence.

Each had several framing nails were "loosely attached" to the underside of the meat.

Umstead says the family's dog wasn't hurt because "It didn't even touch the stuff." It's unclear how long the meat had been there.

Umstead says he has heard of similar incidents at other dog parks, but this is the first local case.
