Couple sentenced in violent jewelry robbery

CENTER CITY - October 19, 2011

Benson was sentenced to 30 to 72 years in state prison. Stubbs was sentenced up to 23 months but given immediate parole. She also faces two years probation.

Back in February of 2010, Stubbs and Benson robbed Platinum and Ice Jewelry on South Street while their 4-year-old son was with them.

Benson stole $70,000 in jewels, then slashed the neck of the store owner.

The owner survived.

Benson and Stubbs fled, leaving their son standing on the sidewalk.

They were convicted of numerous charges back in August.
