Yemeni man to be sentenced for piracy in Virginia

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - October 21, 2011

Mounir Ali will be sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court in Norfolk.

Ali is one of 14 defendants charged in the February hijacking of the yacht Quest off the coast of Africa. The owners of the Quest, Jean and Scott Adam of Marina del Rey, Calif., and friends Bob Riggle and Phyllis Macay of Seattle, were shot to death several days after being taken hostage.

In July, Ali became the 11th man to plead guilty in the case. He faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison for piracy.
