The investigation revealed that the victim was outside on his front porch when he heard noises coming from the rear of his home. A short time later, he confronted a burglar, later identified as David Lance, who was in the process of burglarizing his shed.
During the confrontation, the suspect sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was later located by a police canine as he was hiding in a nearby wooded area after he fled from the home.
Lance has been charged with the following crimes: Burglary in the third degree, criminal mischief and felony theft.
