The day is dedicated to driving shoppers to local, independently-owned merchants.
The free American Express gift cards - each worth $25 - were available through Fed Ex's facebook page starting at 1 p.m. The gift cards were available on a first come, first served basis, and were all distributed in less than 2 hours.
