Senators offer plan to keep Postal Service solvent

WASHINGTON (AP) - November 02, 2011

The plan would keep six-day mail delivery for at least two more years. It also would encourage cuts in post office staffing and refund postal overpayments to the federal retirement system.

Sen. Joe Lieberman, an independent from Connecticut, says the proposal would pull the Postal Service "back from the brink of bankruptcy."
