NJ travel agent sentenced for stealing $67,000
WOODBURY, N.J. (AP) - November 6, 2011
But a state judge warned Ellis Hester that he could face jail
time if he fails to keep up with his monthly restitution payments
to his 19 victims.
The Gibbstown resident, who once owned Deva Travel in Monroe
Township (Gloucester County), had pleaded guilty to a theft charge
in August. He admitted taking $67,380 in trip deposits for the
cruise that never happened, but did not explain why he took the
money during Friday's sentencing hearing.
More than a dozen of Hester's victims attended the hearing,
including some who asked that he receive a prison sentence.
