Power restored after outage in NE Philadelphia

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - November 8, 2011

Police say around 7:20 this morning they were notified of an underground transformer explosion causing a fire and power outage in the area.

Bustleton Avenue is closed from Cottman Avenue to Tyson due to the incident.

PECO says the the fire led to a power outage, which affected 1,400 customers and the traffic lights in the area of Roosevelt Boulevard and Harbbison Avenue. Power has since been restored to all but one customer.

There is no word yet what caused the incident.
