Police: Hammonton victim called 911 before he died

HAMMONTON, N.J. - November 8, 2011

Police say 29-year-old Ryan Patterson made the call early Thursday morning before succumbing to more than 20 stab and slash wounds.

His mother, 64-year-old Diana Patterson, was also killed inside their Atlantic County home. She suffered more than 10 stab and slash wounds.

This comes as police test a knife that was found in a yard on Sunday afternoon, not far from the home at 32 S. Madison Avenue where the Pattersons were killed.

However, investigators have not yet said if that knife is connected to the crime.

Meanwhile, on Monday, several warrants were issued in Deptford Twp., Gloucester County and several items were seized. However, authorities wouldn't say what, if anything, was found.

A memorial service was held for the Pattersons on Monday night. A funeral will be held Tuesday.

There have been no arrests and the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office had no comment on any possible suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office at 609-909-7800 or Crimestoppers at 609-652-1234 or 800-658-8477.
