Family wants justice for son killed July 4th weekend

PHILADELPHIA - December 10, 2011 On a hot summer day July 1st at 5:00pm, 24 year old Marceles Jefferson was shot 9 times in broad daylight.

It happened in the 2900 block of Judson Street in North Philadelphia. He later died at Temple University Hospital.

He leaves behind a grieving mother and a three year old son who will grow up without his father.

"We are just trying to be supportive and be there for him, to help him understand that his dad is never going to coming back," said Charlita Davis.

Jefferson was one of three people shot in separate incidents that day within a two and a half hour period, and another person was stabbed to death. The crime spree had police racing from one crime scene to another.

Jefferson was walking to the store with a friend when he was shot from behind. Police have no motives or suspects, and no one is coming forward with any information.

"Somebody had to see something," said Santo Montecalvo. "Somebody knows something. You have to pick up the phone and call 215-546-TIPS. The person gets arrested and convicted, you get the $2,500."

"If anybody knows anything, who was out there, just to come forward with some information as to why my son was killed, please, it would be really helpful, and his family and his friends would really appreciated," said Charlita.
