A Hackettstown police officer stopped the Dodge Durango early Sunday and said the driver, who said he was 19, failed a field sobriety test.
Police tell The Daily Record of Parsippany the boy admitted he was actually 14 and that 19-year-old Timothy Pruden of Liberty Township had given him his license and keys to take another juvenile home.
Pruden is charged with allowing the 14-year-old to drive under the influence of alcohol and lending his license to the boy.
The 14-year-old is charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with an open container of alcohol and possession of a shotgun without a firearms ID card.
