Popular NJ Shore pizzeria drops a founder's name

OCEAN CITY, N.J. - December 19, 2011

Mack & Manco's, opened more than 50 years ago, is becoming Manco & Manco.

The families of founders Vincent Manco and Tony Mack actually went their separate ways years ago. But even as the Macks opened pizzerias under their own name in Wildwood, the Mancos continued operating under the Mack & Manco name in Ocean City.

So why the change now? Mack family spokesman Ralph Grassi tells The Philadelphia Inquirer the family decided it wanted the Mack name to remain its own and no longer associated with the Manco name. He calls the decision mutual.

Mack & Manco co-owner Chuck Bangle wouldn't tell the Inquirer if the final split was amicable. But he says most importantly, the pies won't change.
