It happened around 6:30 p.m. Monday along West Woodland Avenue.
Crews found heavy flames coming from the two-story home upon arrival. The fire at one point went to two-alarms.
The firefighter was injured when he fell from the first floor to the basement.
He managed to make it out safely and was transported to an area hospital for observation.
The blaze was brought under control shortly after 7:30 p.m.
No other injuries were reported.
