Police: Woman tried to take police wife's wallet

PHILADELPHIA - December 20, 2011

Investigators say 46-year-old Wanda Singleton was caught reaching into the pocketbook of a suburban police officer's wife as they waited for a table for a celebratory Christmas dinner on Sunday night.

Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood says one of his officers grabbed Singleton's arm and held her until Philadelphia police arrived.

Singleton has a long history of arrests and online court records list 20 aliases for her.

Singleton is being held on $150,000 bail. It was not clear if she had an attorney.
