The Marine Mammal Standing Center rescued the seal from a beach near Manasquan in March. Its flipper was broken.
Center technician Bill Deerr tells The Press of Atlantic City the female's recovery was complicated by a broken bone that kept infecting the wound. The bone was removed during surgery in October and the wound healed.
The seal was released in the Great Bay in Tuckerton on Wednesday.
