Frankford man shot mutliple times in home invasion

FRANKFORD - December 26, 2011

It was right around 5:30 Monday morning when a shotgun wielding man entered the home on the 4600 block of Mulberry Street.

Investigators are describing the crime as a home invasion-robbery that ended with the victim shot in the face, chest, and arm.

The suspect quickly fled the scene and has not yet been found.

The victim, a 30-year-old man, was taken to the hospital a short time later, where he was listed in critical condition.

Neighbors say this is out of character for this community.

"Everybody knows everybody. Everyone goes to church and to work, like good hardworking people. This is just shocking," said John Ballard.

The community is rattled by this brutal crime that occurred on the morning after Christmas.

"It's a shame that it happened. It's a pretty nice neighborhood, and pleasant. Not too much trouble up here," said Jeffrey Hughes.

The entire street was taped off for hours as police investigated the scene, searching for clues and interviewing neighbors to find out if there were any witnesses.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Philadelphia Police.
