4 hospitalized after accident on I-95

BRANDYWINE, Del. - January 1, 2012

At around 9:15 p.m., police say the driver lost control of an SUV and hit the guardrail on I-95 in the area of Marsh Road.

The SUV overturned and landed in a muddy area of the median.

Two people were able to escape the overturned vehicle and were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Two others were trapped inside the vehicle.

They remained in the SUV for close to an hour until they were freed by rescue crews.

One person was airlifted to Christiana Hospital.

The second victim was taken to the hospital by ground units.

The accident closed the southbound lanes of I-95 for over an hour.
