It happened just before 3:30 Friday afternoon at 7th Street and Swedes Landing Road.
The cause of the crash is unclear but authorities say the car came to a stop on the drivers side, trapping the victim inside.
It took rescue crews about 20 minutes to free him.
The victim, was taken to Christiana Hospital as a trauma alert. No word on his exact injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
