Police say it was approximately 2:15 a.m. when 19-year-old Jacob Kennedy was driving his 1988 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck southbound on Glasgow Avenue. For some unknown reason the vehicle left the roadway and slammed into a utility pole.
Kennedy became trapped in the pickup truck. Responding emergency crews were able to remove from and then transported him to Christiana Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Rescue crews also freed a dog that was in the truck with Kennedy. The pet was evaluated at the scene by emergency crews. There is no word on if the animal suffered any injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
