The incident happened at 15th and Chestnut around 8:30 p.m.
Investigators say the three teens started yelling at a passenger inside a Liberty Cab.
When the passenger yelled back, the three teens went after him.
Police say the driver got in the middle and the teens attacked him while the passenger ran away.
Officers arrived in time to take at three suspects, all 17 years old, into custody.
The cab driver was treated at the scene for an eye injury.
Police say charges are pending against the teens.
