44 year old David Toledo motioned to reporters that he is innocent, but he has been charged with 60 criminal counts in connection with repeated tire slashings on Aldine Street and elsewhere.
He has yet to post $270,000 bail.
Mayfair residents met at a local pal center in Thursday night to talk about Toledo's arrest.
Residents expressed their concerned over several topics including what to do if Toledo returns to the block, retaliation and restitution.
Dozens of residents from the Mayfair section of Philadelphia walked into a community meeting Thursday night looking for answers in the recent arrest of their neighbor David Toledo who is accused of slashing their tires.
"I just hope he doesn't come back to the block, because it really looks bad. But I think they're trying to keep it calm," said Rob Cintron.
Philadelphia Police hosted the meeting at the Pal Center on Aldine Street just a few blocks away from where investigators say Toledo lived and terrorized his neighbors for months.
The media was not allowed into the meeting, but Action News has learned that it was very heated and full of anger and frustration.
"What we're trying to do here is have the members of the community be able to speak freely to us without any people being on TV," said Captain Frank Bachmayer.
Some of the residents spoke outside of the meeting.
"My question was what led to his arrest, but they couldn't give us that information," said Danielle Theodore.
"Most of it was about getting money back, how we get reimbursed for the tires," asked Karen Woldsmit.
Police also urged residents to continue giving support to block watch and town watch groups, which are still trying to distance themselves from Toledo who claimed that he was a part of them.
"We're trying to channel this anger," said Milt Martelack. "And we're trying to channel it into a positive direction with people getting involved in the community."
Karen Woldsmit is good friends with Toledo's wife. She says Toledo's wife is in hiding, and the couple plans to move away from the block.
"I worry more about people retaliating, somebody getting hurt or something. That's the stuff I worry about," said Woldsmit.
Officials say the District Attorney is committed to getting as much restitution as possible from Toledo; which may be tough for a man who is unable to make his $270,000 bail.
