It happened around 6:30 Sunday morning in a vacant lot near Locust and Liberty streets.
Officials say a woman's body was found nude and wrapped in a sheet. The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The alley where the victim was found, sits right behind the Fresh Oil Missionary Baptist Church.
The pastor of the church arrived for Mother's Day services Sunday amidst police investigating the crime scene.
"I talked to two young men who said they found her. She was wrapped, with her hands bound and that's all that I know," said Rev. Michael Swinney.
As church members made their way inside, they reflected on the tragedy despite having no idea who the unidentified murder victim is.
"Especially on Mother's Day to give her mother a call that her daughter's dead. I can't take that," said Geraldine Mays.
"I know it's somebody's daughter and it's touching. It's a very sad day. It's been a sad morning since we walked up to church this morning," said Tracie Williams.
Rev. Swinney is equally as saddened by the news. He told Action News that upon arriving to church, at one point he actually saw the victim's deceased body.
"When I pulled up this morning I saw the police tape. When I walked back there, I was able to observe the young lady that was deceased and I immediately began to go into prayer for her soul and her family as well," said Rev. Swinney.
So far no word on the woman's identity. Anyone with information about the victim or the crime is asked to call Camden Police.
