It happened at 22nd and Mountain streets in the Point Breeze section of Philadelphia at 8:30pm Friday night.
The dirt bike driver tried to run when police pulled him over and the officer was injured in the scuffle.
He is being treated at University of Pennsylvania Hospital.
The suspect was apprehended by another officer.
The incident is under investigation.
