If a cool drink on a hot summer night sounds good to you, you might want to take advantage of the special deals being offered during Center City Sips, beginning Wednesday night, June 6, 2012.

Michelle Shannon of the Center City District explains, " We have discounted drinks, all summer long, every Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at 89 bars and restaurants across the city."

Smokin' Betty's at 11th and Sansom streets is one of the establishments taking. They're offering $3 draft beers, $4 wines, and $5 cocktails, along with half-price appetizers.

Emily Smith of Smokin' Betty's explains, " We actually have a whole separate menu just for Sips with a nice variety of appetizers that pair well with our rum drinks."

Smith showed me how to make one of the featured cocktails, Grilled Peach Rum Punch.

The recipe calls for one ounce each of peach-spiced rum, regular rum and pineapple juice, along with a dash of simple syrup, a twist of lemon, a spoonful of grilled peaches and a dash of soda.

Center City Sips begins this Wednesday, June 6, 2012, and runs through August 29, 2012.
