The firefighter most seriously injured was flown to the hospital by helicopter. The other four firefighters were taken to the hospital by ground. Their injuries were said to be not as serious.
The call went out around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday for a truck fire on the highway near mile post 52 in Mansfield Township.

The view from Chopper 6 HD showed the back of the trailer blackened from flames with cargo spilled on the road.
At one point during the fire something in the truck exploded.
All lanes were briefly closed but, by 3:00 p.m., all northbound lanes were open and two southbound lanes were open.
