Pa. trooper accidentally shoots self

A Pennsylvania state police trooper is hospitalized in stable condition after accidentally shooting himself on Thursday afternoon.

It happened at the Troop M barracks in Plainfield Township, Northampton County on Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities there say the trooper accidentally discharged his gun and shot himself in the leg in the parking lot.

The name of the injured trooper has not been released.

State police say the shooting was not the result of a criminal incident and there is no threat to the public.
