Police shot one of those teens.
The first shooting happened at 16th Street and the Ben Franklin Parkway at 9:20 Wednesday night. Police spokesman Lt. Ray Evers says authorities witnessed a 16-year-old boy shoot a 17-year-old boy in the leg.
The suspect has been identified as Nafis Scott from the Unit block of Price Street.
Police tracked down the armed teen near 17th and John F. Kennedy Boulevard. That is where they say Scott shot a second teenager in the leg, and then pointed a gun at police. So, an officer opened fire and hit the 16-year-old.
Scott was transported to Hahnemann Hospital with a graze wound to the chest. Both victims were also hospitalized. All three are listed in stable condition.
Scott will be charged with 2-counts of Aggravated Assault, Assault on Police, Violation of Uniform Firearms Act (VUFA) and related offenses.
When asked Thursday if this could have been prevented, Mayor Michael Nutter stressed that this was just one incident near where 500,000 people were all having a good time.
"I cannot control what every person might want to do or what's in their head; I'm the mayor, not the psychologist," Nutter said.
Including this incident, Mayor Nutter says there were a total of nine arrests last night
No officers were hurt in the incident.
