Red-light camera case buys drivers time

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - July 9, 2012

The Asbury Park Press reports (http://on.app.com/L3EDnn ) the state's acting administrative director of courts also is giving drivers who already paid their fines a second chance.

Judge Glenn Grant says those motorists can seek to reopen the case if the summons was issued at one of the 63 intersections under review.

New Jersey suspended the program last month in all but four municipalities in the pilot program, saying the traffic signals were not timed according to standards.

The municipalities have to re-certify the timing of the yellow light by August 1.
