Del. groups get $847K grant to help homeless vets

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - July 20, 2012

The grant awarded by the Department of Veterans Affairs will allow several groups to expand their programs. David Mosley, director of the Delaware Center for Homeless Veterans, says he plans to add staff and possibly expand his 10-bed shelter.

The grant is also being shared with the People's Place, a Milford-based aid provider that offers career and mental health counseling and other services. Catholic Charities and Connections Community Support Programs, two much larger aid agencies, also will benefit from the grant.

The funding is Delaware's slice of nearly $100 million in grants awarded to agencies in 49 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
