The banner plane reportedly missed the runaway while attempting to land at Paramount Airpark near Route 47 and Smoke Road and crashed in a wooded area.
The crash occurred just before 4:30 p.m. and the pilot was rescued around 6:00 p.m.
The FAA is investigating.
