Abington man ordered to trial in shooting death

GLENSIDE, Pa. (AP) -July 31, 2012

The (Doylestown) Intelligencer says a judge sent the first-degree murder case against 23-year-old Andre Dula of Abington to Montgomery County Court after a preliminary hearing Tuesday.

Authorities allege that Dula shot 27-year-old William Butler in the back after a confrontation near a train overpass in Abington on July 17.

Assistant District Attorney John Walko said the men had been trading insults online, and the victim was later shot three times.

Defense attorney John McMahon Jr. said "three carloads of individuals" pulled up toward his client and Butler attacked him, and as the other man turned, his client fired in self-defense.
