Man's arm mangled by train in Gloucester City

GLOUCESTER CITY, N.J. - August 17, 2012

Police say it was shortly after 11:30 p.m. when the victim, said to be in his 20s, was struck on a stretch of track near Powell Street.

According to investigators, the man was lying near the tracks when he was struck and became trapped beneath the freight train.

The victim's arm was mangled in the incident. Medics responded and rushed the man to Cooper University Hospital for care.

It's not clear if the man will lose his arm.

Police are trying to figure out why the man was in the track area.
