Tom Brokaw leaves hospital, in 'great health'

NEW YORK (AP) - September 6, 2012

The NBC News special correspondent was admitted this morning after feeling light-headed during a TV appearance. In a Twitter post, Brokaw said he had mistakenly taken a half dose of the sleep medication Ambien -- and as a result, he says, he "made less sense than usual."

NBC says, after a series of tests, doctors found the 72-year-old Brokaw "in great health." Or, as Brokaw put it, he "made a better comeback" than the New York Giants, who lost last night's season-opener to the Dallas Cowboys.

Brokaw has been keeping a busy schedule of on-air appearances at the Republican National Convention last week and, this week, at the Democratic Convention.

He has served as special correspondent for NBC News since stepping down as anchor of "Nightly News" in 2004.
