Daquan Stevenson of Newark is being held on $70,000 bail.
Police say on Tuesday at 10:00 p.m. Stevenson walked into the home of a 21-year-old acquaintance, began scuffling with the man, then hit him on the head with a handgun, knocking the man unconscious.
Investigators say Stevenson was searching for drugs.
Police arrested Stevenson Wednesday and charged him with the burglary and assault.
Stevenson was also charged with 3 counts of rape in connection with a sexual assault that was reported in July.
Police say Stevenson had become involved in a relationship with a 14-year-old girl and had sex with the girl in his home.
