City of Philadelphia to pay fallen officer's funeral costs

PHILADELPHIA - September 7, 2012

An investigation has concluded that Officer Moses Walker Jr. was shot in the line of duty on August 18th, and the city will pay $15,000 toward funeral costs.

The investigation also determined that Walker's family is entitled to his city life insurance policy.

They will also receive state and federal benefits.

Walker was laid to rest on August 27th, a little more than a week after he was killed.

Two men, 23-year-old Rafael Jones and 19-year-old Chancier McFarland, are charged in Walker's death.
