It happened shortly before midnight on Friday at the corner of 4th Street and Delamore Place.
A Wilmington officer was in his cruiser in eastbound lanes of the roadway. A 24-year-old motorcyclist on his bike, struck the officer's vehicle on the front fender.
The motorcycle careened onto the sidewalk. The impact of the crash sent bike parts flying.
A 22-year-old woman was struck by stray motorcycle parts while the biker sustained head injuries.
Both were taken to Christiana Hospital. The motorcyclist was listed in critical condition and the female victim was treated for minor injuries.
The police officer was not injured.
An investigation into the crash continues.
